Created by a long ago lava flow, this sea arch is a hidden gem in the Puna District of the Big Island. It's so hidden, it took me months to find out the location.
While it is a relatively short and easy hike. Near the arch itself, the rocks are numerous and the ocean wild. I would definitely wear something besides slippers (flip flops) to get to this location.
As near any of the beach and cliffs in Hawaii, you have to keep a close eye on the waves and never turn your back back on it. The water here has strong currents and falling into the water would be a bad thing.
That being said, it is an absolutely gorgeous location for the somewhat adventurous. It's not a strenuous hike, but getting up on the arch itself requires walking over a narrow lava rock path.
Sorry guys, no map included on this one. It's not listed on any map and I found it by asking around to local residents and I promised not to publicize the exact location. If you want to choose this beautiful wild location for your adventure elopement or session, I'll make sure you get there. 🙂
