The Hilo side of the Big Island is lush and green. . . . . because it's a rainforest. And it had been raining alot before this session. Thankfully, the day of the session, the rain was fairly light. There was a flash flood warning, but it seemed to be holding off just for us. The Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden closes if it's raining too hard. The garden is one of my favorite places to photograph. There are exotic plants and flowers everywhere and it lends to a really nice background for photos. There are even waterfalls here (though we can't get right next to them - but we can get close).
I was surprised to see how many people were at the Garden that day, considering the weather forecast. However, we still managed to get our locations pretty much to ourselves during the session.
The kids were great - though Jake took a while to warm up to the idea of having his picture taken. In the end, being silly was the theme and we had a great time while we got some wonderful photos.
