The Process

When you hire a professional photographer to make your portraits, you are making an investment in preserving this particular time in your life.   If you finish your session and end up with a bunch of digital files on a hard drive somewhere, you haven’t received the full custom portrait experience.

I take a different approach to photography.  When we finish your final consultation, you will have beautiful art for your home, or perhaps a custom-designed folio box of matted images to display.  I will not leave you to fend for yourself!  Instead, you will have artwork that you walk by  and see every day, beautiful images that bring a smile to your face and perfectly capture this special moment.  Created with high quality materials that will look beautiful for generations to come.

Because this is the goal, Beyond the Box Photography provides an experience that may be different than what you have experienced in the past.  Here is what you can expect:

Step #1: The Consultation

When you are ready, contact me and we’ll begin with a creative consultation.     This consultation can take place over the phone, via Skype or in person.  There is no cost or obligation for this consultation, just a chance for us to sit down and chat about you, your style, and your ideas.   We will discuss how I will use my creative vision to help you to achieve truly magical results.  If you decide that you feel comfortable with me and think that my creative vision and approach is right for your portraits, we will take care of some initial paperwork, then we will pick a date, finalize location, ideas, concepts, wardrobe recommendations, and every last detail before your session.  This is also when the retainer is due for your session to hold your session date.  This meeting will last approximately a half hour to an hour.

Step #2: The Photo Session

Once we have completed the creative consultation, we’ll have booked a date for your special day and then the magic begins. We will take plenty of time which allows you to relax and enjoy the session. Be prepared to have a LOT of fun, be relaxed and let me create the magic. I promise you, you will be blown away with the results!

Step #3: Image Premier & Final Product

Photography is one of my favorite things to do.  But seeing my clients when they view their beautiful images for the first time?  Well, THAT might be my favorite part!    About 1-2 weeks after your session, we’ll meet again (either in person or via Skype) and I will present your finished photographs and you can ooh and ahh over all your awesome images.  During this time you will view your photographs in an awe-inspiring slideshow.  This is the first time you’ll see your photographs and will be our final meeting.  We will go through your photographs and narrow them down to your favorites and then make ALL of the decisions in regards to your order.  This really is the best part! In addition to viewing your images, I will show you a variety of custom-designed wall collections, and you will get a very clear vision of what your images will look like in your home.  There are also beautiful album and folio box options.

You will place your order at this session, so it is important that you have anyone there who would like to participate in deciding which pieces you will purchase.

This presentation takes awhile, so be sure to schedule enough time to where you don’t feel rushed.  No high pressure sales, just real artwork and amazing photographs.  I’ll make the process as easy and awesome as possible.

Within 2-4 weeks of your final session, you will have your art hanging on your walls and your albums in hand.  Rather than wishing you could see your beautiful photos, they will be right there for you to enjoy.  And given the archival quality of all of our wall art, albums, and prints, these are pieces that your family will enjoy for generations to come.

If you would like to get started, please contact me and we will schedule your consultation.  I look forward to working with you!
